1968-1985:

Park located in Redwood City, CA (basically a zoological
park).
·
Park closes at this location in 1985.
1986-1996:
·
Park opens at new/current location in Vallejo, CA in 1986
(remains basically a zoological park through 1996).
1997:
·
Premier Parks (Six Flags Inc. today) begins managing the park.
·
First two rides/attractions added to the park:
o
Iwerks 3D motion simulator ride opens features DinoSphere
movie.
o
Popeye’s Seaport (kiddie area) opens.
The
Marine World Theme Park
1998:
·
Park changes name to The Marine World Theme Park and adds
several new rides/attractions including:
o
Boomerang (Vekoma Boomerang roller coaster)
o
Kong (Vekoma SLC roller coaster) – was Hangman
at Opryland Theme Park
o
White Water Safari (Intamin Rapids water ride)
o
Moonsoon Falls (Intamin Spillwater water ride)
o
Voodoo (Huss Top Spin)
o
Hammerhead Shark (Zamperla Hawk 48)

·
Roar (GCI wooden roller coaster) opens.
·
Tazmanian Devil (Huss Frisbee) opens.
·
Scat-A-Bout (Eli Bridge Scrambler) opens.
·
Wave Jumper (dumbo style ride) opens.
·
Flying Carousel name changed to Wave Swinger.
·
Bumper Cars name changed to Bumper Buggies.
·
Looney Tunes Seaport (kiddie area) opens, was Popeye’s
Seaport, 3 new kids rides added, rides that were part of Popeye’s Seaport
renamed (don’t know original names):

Road Runner Express (Zamperla kiddie roller coaster) –

Bug’s Buccaneer (kiddie swinging ship) – NEW

Medusa (B & M Floorless roller coaster) opens.

Cobra (Zierer Tivoli family roller coaster)

2001:

V2: Vertical Velocity (Intamin Twisted Impulse
roller coaster) opens.
·
Sky Coaster (Thrill Time double skycoaster) opens.
·
Kong repainted.
2002:
·
V2: Vertical Velocity modified because ride broke the
parks height limit of 150 ft., front spike changed from vertical to 45
degrees and back spike shortened to 150 ft.
·
Go Carts (J & J Amusements extra charge go-karts)
opens.
·
Virtual Quest Interactive Theater (Ham On Rye VR, extra
charge) opens.
·
Turbo Bungy (Eurobungy extra charge bungee/trampoline)
opens.
·
Rock Wall (extra charge) opens.
·
Starfish removed after season, moved to Six Flags
Worlds of Adventure – Starfish.
2003:
·
Zonga (Schwarzkopf looping roller coaster) opens, moved
from Six Flags Astroworld.
·
Turbo Bungy and Rock Wall moved to area near
Go-Carts.
·
Dino Island II: Escape From Dino Island movie changed to 7th
Portal.
2004:
·
Stargate SG 3000 replaces 7th portal.
·
Shouka the killer whale along with 400 other animals are moved
from Six Flags Worlds of Adventure (Geauga Lake) to Six Flags Marine World.
·
Admission this year is $45.99. Parking is $10.00.
2005:
·
Ocean Discovery – Where The Ocean Touches You
(Caribbean-themed interactive animal area) opens and includes the following
attractions:
o
Dolphin Encounter (feed, touch and train dolphins)
o
Penguin Passage (Penguin viewing area)
o
Stingray Bay (touch and feed stingrays)
o
New Sea Lion Show (features sea lions and river otters)
·
Turbo Bungy and Rock Wall are both moved to
their former locations near Boomerang to make room for the Ocean Discovery
area.
·
Admission this year is $47.99.
