Disneyland
1948
– Walt Disney has an idea for a park
that the whole family can attend. He wants to build the Mickey
Mouse Park on 8 acres next to the Disney Studio in Burbank,
California. With the land next to the studio unavailable, Walt
turns to the Stanford Research Institute to recommend a site for the
park. Their selection is Anaheim. Walt purchases 160 acres. Walt recruits
animators from his studio to begin designing the park's attractions.
He gives these designers the title "Imagineers" and is adamant that
they create unique attractions that don't look anything like traveling
carnival rides.
