About
Theme Park Timelines officially
launched on December 21, 2002.

Theme Park Timelines webmaster Chris Cowan and his grandfather at Santa
Claus Land (now Holiday World) in 1976 on the Scrambler. |
Originally
conceived as a fan site for theme parks located in the mid-western United
States, webmaster Chris Cowan quickly discovered that the scope of
the project was going to be too large, and decided he needed to narrow
the focus of the site. But to what? "In the process of
gathering information for the original site, I had spent about 4
months creating a detailed, year-by-year timeline for Kings Island.
I realized that the history of the parks was the thing I was most

|
in. And from my initial research, I
also noticed people frequently had questions about when rides were
added or removed or changed names and there really wasn't any central
place to quickly find that kind of info." Now with the idea
for a park timelines site, work continued over the next 3 months, and
several more timelines were created. At launch, Theme Park
Timelines contained over a dozen year-by-year histories of theme parks,
with plans to continually add |

new ones. The
current goal is to have timelines for the Top 50 parks in the United
States by the summer of 2005. |

You Can Help! |
Do you save park brochures? We need scans of the front of park
brochures to include with each park's timeline. Any year, any
park! All are appreciated. Please
email us if you'd like to contribute.
